Since 1997, Jane has worked out of her own home studio in Burnaby, painting, framing, exhibiting and selling her own original paintings in acrylic, watercolour, pastels and oils. In 1998 she designed the murals at the Charles Rummel Community Centre. She instructs painting workshops for adults and children and she is the president of the Burnaby Artists Guild and volunteers at their arts shows.
Artist Statement:
“I paint in response to what I see and feel about a subject by letting the paintbrush lead me. But I also strive for a desired harmony and order within the colourful and vibrant expressions.
In painting expressively, I undoubtedly respond to the creative spirit within and hope that this too is somehow depicted in the image.
By painting images beyond their obvious detail I hope to bring an essence of emotion and increased involvement with the viewer.”
