Danny Han-Lin Chen was born in Tainan, Taiqan in 1957. He began this art studies at the age 5, under the guidance of master teacher Mt. Huei-Tung Chen. Danny initially worked primarily with watercolours and oils. From 1962 – 1969, his instructors arranged the entry of his paintings in world class competitions in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Germany, U.S.A. and Canada, where he consistently won awards in the top three categories. Mr. Chen also won awards from 1967 - 1969 within the “World Children Art Competitions”.

In 1969 Danny Han-Lin Chen emigrated to Montreal, Quebec. In addition to continuing his studies in oils and watercolours, he also studied sculpture, acrylics, charcoal, printing and pottery. After moving to Vancouver in 1982, he devoted the next few years to a serious study of Chinese painting, and the distinctive Danny Chen style emerged.

While living in 100 Mile House, British Columbia, for 3 ½ years, Danny orchestrated local artists in the design and painting of a massive 200 ft by 9 ft mural. He has led workshops in and lectured about traditional Chinese painting and modern Chinese watercolours.

Since 1984, Danny’s reputation has continued to expand through F.C.A. exhibitions, where his paintings have achieved honourable mention status on five occasions.
