Audrey Capel Doray finds great personal satisfaction in contributing to a cause she firmly believes in. Wildlife Rescue is a significant aspect of her major priorities in trying to preserve the quality of the environment. Her work acknowledges the urgency surrounding survival of the planet.

The artist’s intention in Core Burst is to convey the strength within nature, whether it be the bursting of the inner core of a volcano or the delicacy of a plant breaking into flower. As with most of her work, she prefers such ambiguity.

She tried to choose the etching technique that best serves the image. Technical play with the proposed image is important and she enjoys the challenges of etching. These include breaking down the image into a series of copper plates and working out the colour and inks for hand-wiping of the plates.

Three copper plates. Orange and blue were printed together on Plate1 followed by red on Plate 2 and dark green on the final plate. The light blue and dark green were etched using Xerox toner. Image size is 12” by 9” (30 cm by 23 cm).
